Live, Laugh, Love: My Three Part Life

Autobiography1.jpgLIVE, LAUGH, LOVE.

This is my life's mantra, but I always wondered where the saying came from. Being someone who loves to read and write I think that knowing the author and the origin of this phrase will help you to truly understand how these words are shaping my life.

Ms. Elisabeth-Anne "Bessie" Anderson Stanley (1879-1952) wrote in "Bartlett's Familiar Quotations," 17th Edition:

"He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much (...)" [1904]

Simply put I strive to LIVE a meaningful life. To understand the world I am a part of and to better it in whatever ways I can. Whether I do so in writing my poetry or fiction, my volunteer work with the JKA Shotokan Karate association, my modeling with Rusk Hair Products, or by being there for my friends in their moments of weakness and success. It's important to support the community around you. It's given me so much to smile about already.

I want to LAUGH as often as I can. Nevermind the wrinkles I'll see on my face later. Laughing is what helps me through all the painful, unpleasant moments life throws at me. I want to make others laugh by putting on a funny accent, making a joke, or messing around. I don't want to take myself too seriously because there just isn't enough time for that.

I choose to LOVE with all my heart. Sure I've been betrayed, hurt, and broken before. Who hasn't? That doesn't mean I'm going to close myself off to the world. How could I grow fond of someone or something if fear is what drives me? I prefer to cherish the company of friends, snuggle up with my cat Rupert, kiss my One and Only, and delight in the moments I share with family.

This is me.
