Montreal is a bi-lingual city and the second largest city in Canada. The
city boasts five of the ten most creative neighbourhoods in Canada.
The city also has the largest concentration of artists of any
other Canadian cities. Presently in Montreal, there are 3,000 professional
artists operating in the visual arts. There are 3,600 practicing artists at
Concordia University alone, not to mention the creative-minded students who are
in other programs. Montreal is an opportune place for young artists to move.
With its affordable rent, living costs, and studio space, the city caters to
the lifestyle of an artist. Montreal is unique in terms of the arts due to
its bi-lingual nature. Art is a unifying force - something that doesn't isolate
us due to language barriers or different belief systems.
